The Christ Church ThinkTank has been in existence for over 10 years. It draws on speakers from all the churches in the Lewes area. Whether you go to church or not, come whenever the topic interests you. The format is 45 minutes talk and 45 minutes discussion and our average attendance is about 30. All meetings are from 7.30 pm to 9 pm.
Our next meeting will be on Wednesday 16 May 2018, when Rev Dr Richard Goldring will be speaking on:
‘Spiritual Care’ in a Secular Context: Reflections of a Hospital Chaplaincy Volunteer
Richard Goldring, formerly a solicitor, was ordained as a United Reformed Church minister in 1997. After 12 years in a south London church, he became a Synod training officer. Since moving to Brighton in 2016, he has volunteered within the chaplaincy at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, and has had two brief periods as a hospital patient. NHS trusts and clinicians are obliged to offer “spiritual” care for patients. Richard will explore what this might mean within the context of healthcare, and consider the similarities and differences between “spiritual” care, pastoral care, and spiritual direction.
