The Christ Church ThinkTank has been in existence for over 10 years. It draws on speakers from all the churches in the Lewes area. Whether you go to church or not, come whenever the topic interests you. The format is 45 minutes talk and 45 minutes discussion and our average attendance is about 30. All meetings are from 7.30 pm to 9 pm.
Our next meeting will be on Wednesday 20 June 2018, when Alex Kirby will be speaking on:
What have we done to the kingfishers?
Alex Kirby is a member of the congregation at St Michael’s. He has a degree in theology but his career has been as a journalist, dealing especially with environmental issues. He worked for the BBC for over 20 years in television and radio and independently on management of websites and training of journalists. He considers species loss, referred to as the Sixth Great Wave, is a problem as serious as climate change. "We are not the only passengers on Planet Earth. But the creatures with which we share it are in retreat as we cut a swathe through them, reducing their numbers, their range and their variety. We are casually pulling apart the web of life, with consequences now increasingly clear across the world, and here in Sussex."
The following meeting will be on Wednesday 1 August 2018, when Professor Liz Hill will be speaking on:
